I'm in the middle of a New York Times Bestseller by Ann Voscamp called One Thousand Gifts. In the book, she talks about being challenged by a friend to start naming her gifts, daily joys from above, and see if she can name one thousand of them. It opens her eyes to things she loves and beautiful things around her, and she begins taking notice of little things of beauty she might otherwise have missed in the busy-ness of life. Last weekend at a prayer time at my church, I looked up and noticed some of the exquisite beauty in the chapel, like the over-two-feet crown molding at the ceiling, and took a moment to walk around the church and take note of some of the things I may have overlooked around the building. The church is extremely traditional, but some of the upholstery and artwork around the building is more contemporary, giving it a more updated feel. Here are some of my finds:

A tucked-away alcove with beautiful slate floors, detailed windows and exposed brick walls

A beautiful outdoor space

Gorgeous details in the millwork in the chancel

A beautiful painting by a local artist
In wandering around with a camera, I found myself noticing beauty that I have overlooked on many an occasion. Take a second to slow down, look around, and notice some beautiful things around you that you may have otherwise overlooked or taken for granted!

Love this, Paige!
