February isn't the only month to express your love and friendship. Every single day we have opportunities to love and care for others. My very special friend Helen is a perfect example of someone who recognizes those opportunities Let me share a recent story which I hope inspires you to pay attention and express your love without hesitation.
December fifteenth became a very different day when my sister called to tell me our Mother had had a stroke. My plans quickly changed from hosting a dinner party for sixteen the following evening, to spending the weekend in the hospital with Mom. On December sixteenth my husband and I were having our Dinner Club over for a very fun, Christmas celebration and we were preparing the entire meal. My phone rang with the news about Mom while I was grocery shopping. Out I flew leaving the cart behind. My mother had her stroke at a Spa nearby. Oddly my dear friend Helen was there having her hair done. Helen and I exchanged hugs and off I went to the hospital.
My phone rang later that day, Helen checking on Mom and telling me she had arranged for the dinner party to be moved to her house. Helen quickly orchestrated the entire meal, phone calls and lovely decor (she loves finery, especially sterling). It was such a joy to be there that evening with warm, caring friends...it meant the world to me.
I told Helen I would gladly host her Dinner Club and we decided to plan it for February fifth, a Super Bowl party. On January thirty-first, Helen's Dad had a mild heart attack and off she went to her hometown. Say anything you want, but how incredible it is that our Lord carefully arranged all of this, placing friends together and orchestrating the outcome. I am truly blessed...I love you Helen.
Because I told you I love to do tablescapes I have included a few photos of the evening at my house. Enjoy...Oh, my Mother and Helen's Dad are better..thought you might be curious :)
