The Joys of a Girls School

For someone who has never been a fan of Valentine's Day, I sure have spent a lot of time talking about it... Nonetheless, I've been anticipating what this day would mean at a girls' school and it did not disappoint. From cake balls to cupcakes, to handmade cards and pretzels with melted HUGS, I was spoiled with treats. (Yes, I am wearing my Valentine's sweater that my mom bought me for the Homecoming Parade when I was a senior in high school, circa 2001.)

And then came the flowers... Oh, the flowers... Apparently, it's tradition that every girl's valentine (boyfriend, dad, secret admirer, best friend, classmate posing as secret admirer) sends her flowers. All of these bouquets collect on several tables in the school's entrance. Here's one as they began to trickle in:
And then, there's Mr. Valentine. Several chosen boys from our brother school come over to compete for the crown, entertaining all of the high school girls with their special talents and pick-up lines. Here's a picture of one of my seniors with the hearts she made for the competition. Cute idea for Valentine's party decor for kids (or adults), too... They're made from foam board and painted with glitter paint and adorned with cut-out letters.
I also thought that this was a really cute idea for transporting individual cupcakes as a little Valentine's "happy" or for a class party. It's a true "cup" cake!
OK, I promise no more V-Day posts, but I hope you got some good ideas for next year!
