Lately I have been loving the color combination of navy, gold and white. It all started on my trip to Greece this summer with my family...the range of blue hues in the color of the water, the Greecian gold coins and jewelry that were so popular in local shops and the crisp white of the buildings....
I also fell in love with this color combination when I realized that I could not subject my new husband to my other favorite, more girlie colors (post on those to come!). Thus we have reached a compromise and here is the inspiration for our master bedroom and a future guest room.
What I LOVE:
- The crisp white quilt...this one from Belk is my tradesecret. It washes great, can be bleached when puppies track in with their muddy paws and is very affordable (especially with a sale!).
- The bamboo shades...I outfitted my old apartment with similar ones from Kmart (very budget friendly!)
- Zig Zags! The fabric on these pillows are on my lust-list and how about that mustard color! What a perfect complement to my future gold sofa...
- Grosgrain ribbon with nailheads trim...great way to elevate the finishes on this headboard
- Retro gourd lamp...L O V E it.
- O B S E S S E D with this headboard. Currently we have two twins and are using the wall as a headboard until we can afford to have some custom made.
One piece of advice that I would give to newlyweds/new homeowners (or renters...) would to be not purchase pieces for your home just to fill up space. Wait, save your money and search for pieces that you really love. No one needs to have a house that is assembled and picture-perfect in one day!
I love being able to walk around our bungalow and see things that I searched high and low for and saved for...they mean a lot more that way and you are not stuck with something you got last minute, late one night at Target...believe me I learned the hardway when I moved into my first apartment!

This is one of my favorite fabrics of all time! I am currently using it as euros in our master bedroom and I think it is a perfect shade of blue from my inspirational Greecian shot.

This blue and white bedroom is peaceful and serene but still has a touch of spunk with it's boldly patterned headboard. While I am a huge proponent of serene bedroom, I do LOVE a pop of color!

Don't you just love these headboards and the unexpected use of wallpaper. I have been dying to wallpaper a bathroom in a bold print, but this cozy guest bedroom has me thinking that maybe I should expand my wallpapering desires!
With these pieces of inspiration, I am going to try to expand my color scheme and dare to do something a little different. Have you found any inspiration lately that encouraged you to do the same? If so, please share!
